Commonplace Books

If you want an alternative to daily journals/diaries, try keeping commonplace books. (Or even a hybrid of the two!)  Commonplace books contain quotes, essays, notes, pictures, etc. of whatever catches your interest. It’s similar to a scrapbook, like one for your life. I have been keeping a version one for the past few years. I like writing quotes and scratching out some notes to help me think through things. I enjoy looking back through my books and re-discovering great quotes and reviewing past thoughts and projects. Commonplace books have been used in the past, but I didn’t really know about them until just a while ago.

I think it is a fun practice to put in place in your life, but not necessarily every day.
